Divorce on hold? Is this normal?
Hired this paralegal, who’s dad is a lawyer to do my divorce for cheap. He began it in Oct. He got my ex’s county wrong and the cops for serving sent it back. He wanted to serve him via certified mail, but now says they will serve him afterall. He keeps sayin the cops will serve ine week, then the next, etc. My mom says he is a con artist. He says that the attorney general are dragging their heels for a court hearing to sue my ex husband for child support, we are waiting for that and they are sticking their nose in my divorce case business.
He was planning on me being divorced late Dec but it might not end up being till after that.
Does this happen alot? My ex wasnt paying CS so I turned him into my state attorney generals child support division. Supposedly I shouldve done the divorce first?

I did my divorce by myself (without lawyer) because we had nothing to split, no kids….I went to the court and asked the clerk for documents what I need, then I went to the library, copy the right ones, fill them up, took my ex with me and I went to open the case (it was not expensive – less than $ 100), the I said they my husband wants to be served now so he was and I got right away the date (like 3 weeks later)… then I was the only one who had to go to the court (as a person who filed for divorce). Judge asked my if I am sure I said yes and 20 min later I was divorced. It happened in NC
I don’t know how it is with online divorce – never heard… maybe they give you option to for divorce online but then you still have to go to the court – no clue, sorry

What is the cheapest and quickest way to get divorced after 8 years seperation and the other party lives in another country. I live in Florida and don’t have alot of money. I have not had any contact with the other party for the past 3 years and have no way of contacting her. I would like to marry the woman I am with but I am still married.

If you want cheap, file the paperwork yourself at the court house.
If you want fast, get a lawyer. Look up your local Bar Association on the Internet, there should be a program for low-income legal services.

find a pro bono lawyer and agree to whatever he asks for with as little argument as possible.

I don’t believe in divorce, except in certain instances. (abuse, cheating, etc.) In those instances then it should be free, but that would be too hard to control
