Question by tewjuan: Any ideas on where, in the metro east, to go with bad debt stemming from divorce.?
I have a 2004 Dodge Ram, probably upside down, and need a cheaper, dependable option.

If you can work things out on your own, go to a lawyer together and pay to file the paperwork. We did this and paid $ 500.

Or check with your county. It may be simple to file the divorce paperwork on your own. Not all counties are quite so easy though.

I live in texas and am in the Texas Army National Guard. My husband lives in Colorado and WAS in the Texas Army National Guard but is discharged and is now in Jail in colorado. We have been seperated since I joined in 2007. We have two kids together. I heard it was VERY cheap to get a divorce while the other spouse is in jail. I am getting deployed soon and I dont want him to come out and try to act like the father he never was and try to take them from my family care plan person. PLEASE sombody help me with this issue.

get a lawyer right away, your chances of gaining full custody just shot up through the roof since he is in jail and depending on what the charges are you have nothing to worry about, but you need to file now

Do it yourself. There are kits you can buy that have all the forms that need to be filled out.

Question by : Have question about self help divorce and custody?
My husband and I split up over 2 years ago. He is unfortunately too cheap to file for divorce however he has our almost 4 year old son. Over the years we have both moved on. I am going to do the the self help divorce and custody but my question is can I just leave the custody the way it is now? He has him but we have a mutual custody arrangement if you will. Both of us are satisfied with the way it is now. Now before anyone goes making rude comments he does NOT have sole custody of him and I am NOT saying I don’t want my son. I lost my job a year ago and cannot find work at the moment. Trying to live off unemployment is impossible and I cannot solely take care of my son.

Now that that is said is there a way to file for divorce without changing the custody situation? As of right now we both make decisions on him, we both pay equal amounts for clothes, food etc for him and whether he is with me or his father he has a roof over his head. He is not in any danger at all as my husband is a great father just a horrible husband. So if it’s mutual on the situation now what do I have to do in court?

I believe a Judge (Court) still has to sign off on this.
